Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTION
What is Wisdom Tooth Extraction?
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to emerge, located at the very back of the upper and lower jaws. Because they erupt last, there is often insufficient space for them, causing them to grow at an angle or become impacted beneath the gum. In such cases, wisdom teeth can cause inflammation or severe pain, making extraction the recommended treatment.
Reasons Wisdom Teeth Should Be Extracted
- 01Damage to Adjacent Teeth
- An impacted or angled wisdom tooth can cause decay or damage to the neighboring tooth.
- 02Inflammation
- Because wisdom teeth are difficult to clean, they are prone to decay and can cause inflammation, bleeding, or pain in the surrounding gum tissue.
- 03Nerve and Jawbone Damage
- A wisdom tooth buried within the jawbone can increase the risk of cyst formation in the jaw.

Post-Extraction Care Instructions
- If bleeding occurs after the extraction, swallow the blood rather than spitting it out.
- If pain intensifies once the anesthesia wears off, the prescribed pain medication should provide relief.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for about one week, and refrain from eating hot food or using a straw.
- After the extraction, eat soft foods at a lukewarm temperature, such as rice, porridge, or shakes.
- During the week before the stitches are removed, brush your teeth gently around the extraction site, and rinse with mouthwash once before bed to further disinfect the area.
